Textbook growing conditions in winter, spring and summer 2022 set our vines up for a classic vintage, and a powerful heat spike in early September unlocked new layers of richness and fruit intensity. The nose evokes a thicket of summer black fruits, sun-warmed and rich, with notes of butterscotch, cedar and cool gravel. The fulsome palate is drenched in layers of black plum, blackberry, and crème de cassis that glide across seamless tannins to fill the mouth. Dark milk chocolate, espresso powder, vanilla and cherry notes develop on the midpalate and linger through the finish, in a long, Black Forest cake reverie.
